AirCare Express — Tips & Good Practices

Book Service

Simple upkeep that protects comfort, food safety, and equipment life

Pick Residential or Commercial for quick, no-nonsense tips. These aren’t DIY repair steps—just smart habits and checks that help you spot issues sooner and keep things running smoothly.

Filters & Airflow

Filter reminders that actually work

  • Change cadence: 1" filters every 30–60 days; 2" every 60–90; 4–5" every 6–12 months. Check monthly if you have pets, construction dust, or allergies.
  • Right size, right way: Make sure the filter matches the return size and arrows face the airflow direction on the cabinet.
  • Clear returns & supplies: Keep furniture and boxes away from grilles; vacuum grilles if visibly dusty.
Cooling & Heating

Quick checks when comfort slips

  • Thermostat sanity check: Verify mode (Cool/Heat), fan (Auto), and setpoint; replace batteries if the screen is dim or blank.
  • Outdoor clearance: Keep leaves and yard debris away from the outdoor A/C or heat pump (about 18" of space).
  • Watch for warning signs: Ice or frost on lines, water around the indoor unit, or air that turns warm mid-cycle. If you notice any of these, turn the system off and schedule service.
Electrical (Home)

Smart safety habits

  • Dead outlet? Check nearby GFCI outlets (kitchen, bath, garage). Press “Reset” once. If it trips again, leave it and call.
  • Tripped breaker? In your panel, look for a handle between ON/OFF. Turn fully to OFF, then ON once. If it trips again, leave it off and schedule service.
  • Warm plates or buzzing: Outlets/switches should not feel warm or buzz. If they do, stop using that circuit and book a visit.
Indoor Air Quality

Small habits, cleaner air

  • Use your fans: Run bath fans during/after showers and the range hood while cooking.
  • Target humidity: Aim for 30–50%. Persistent foggy windows or static shocks? Mention it during service—we’ll assess.
  • Doors & vents: Closed interior doors and closed vents can upset balance; avoid shutting many vents at once.
Before You Call

Fast wins that prevent extra visits

If comfort drops or something won’t power up:
  • Confirm thermostat mode and setpoint, replace filter if overdue, and make sure the outdoor unit isn’t blocked.
  • Check the breaker for “A/C”, “Furnace/AHU”, or “Heat Pump” once. If it trips again, leave it off and book service.
  • Note anything you hear/see (frost, water by the furnace, unusual noises). That detail helps us fix it faster.
Seasonal Rhythm

Simple calendar you can copy

Spring / Summer
  • Replace or check filters; clear around outdoor unit; set cooling schedule.
  • If you have a media filter (4–5"), put a reminder on your calendar to check mid-summer.
Fall / Winter
  • Replace or check filters; set heating schedule; test CO/Smoke alarms.
  • First-heat “dusty” smell is common and usually temporary. Persistent odors? Book a checkup.
Filters & RTUs

Filter program that reduces tickets

  • Cadence: 1" monthly; 2" every 6–8 weeks; 4–5" every 3–6 months (adjust for hours, dust load, and occupancy).
  • Label & log: Label each unit (RTU-01, etc.) and track filter dates. A simple spreadsheet cuts repeats and confusion.
  • Airflow signs: Rooms going stuffy, doors hard to close, or temp swings often point to filters, economizer position, or fan issues. Flag early.
Refrigeration

Cold chain basics that protect product

  • Load discipline: Don’t block evap airflow with boxes shoved against the back wall; keep curtains and gaskets intact.
  • Door management: Limit propped doors; schedule prep so doors aren’t held open during rush.
  • Temp logs: Daily open/close temps catch drift early; rising trends often mean coil, defrost, or door issues.
Electrical (Facility)

Power quality & safety cues

  • Label panels & circuits: Clear labeling speeds recovery when a circuit trips and helps avoid shared POS/server circuits.
  • Egress and emergency lighting: Add a monthly quick test walk-through to your opening checklist.
  • Keep rooms clear: Electrical and IT closets should be free of storage—maintain working clearance in front of panels.
Ventilation & IAQ

Balanced air keeps guests comfortable

  • Door pressure: If doors “suck shut” or blow open, note time of day—often a scheduling or balance clue.
  • Hood capture: Smoke/heat escaping the hood? Log which station and load; we’ll check MUA/hood settings.
  • Filter program: Set a cadence for kitchen make-up air and rooftop units together so they don’t drift apart.
Before You Call

Things that speed the service visit

Share quick context when you submit a ticket—makes approval and repair faster.
  • Asset ID and location (e.g., RTU-03 above dining, Line Cooler #2, Panel “B” position 14).
  • What changed first—noises, alarms, icing, or certain times of day? Patterns matter.
  • One breaker reset only. If it trips again, leave it off and note the circuit label.
Quarterly Rhythm

Light PM rhythm that reduces surprises

Front-of-house / offices
  • Change filters on schedule; wipe return grilles; keep thermostats from being tampered with (pin or lockbox).
  • Note chronic hot/cold zones for test & balance during PM.
Back-of-house / kitchen / server
  • Check case curtains/gaskets; don’t store on top of reach-ins blocking condenser intake.
  • Confirm emergency lights; keep panels and disconnects accessible.
