What’s MERV?

• MERV 1–4: basic fiberglass (lint/large dust). Minimal capture; great airflow.
• MERV 5–8: standard pleated (dust/pollen/mold). Most homes baseline.
• MERV 9–11: enhanced pleated (finer dust, more dander, some smoke). Pets/kids/urban.
• MERV 12–13: high-capture pleated/media (smaller aerosols, more smoke). Allergy/asthma.
• MERV 14–16: deep media/box filters. Needs cabinet—rare for 1″ slots.
